Get to Know Me
Welcome! My name is Valerie Siegman, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist in Florida. I absolutely love what I do!
Therapy can be a safe space to gain confidence and clarity. I believe that everyone wants and deserves to love and to be loved. Things get in the way. Unresolved developmental trauma and the road blocks we have learned to deploy get in the way. These road blocks disconnect us from what we truly are wanting and desiring for ourselves. Despite once being adaptive and helpful, these road blocks and old strategies now create disconnect and unhappiness.
Congratulations on taking the first step in the journey of transformation and post traumatic growth!
My current specialties focus on healing complex trauma, relational aspects and attachment difficulties. To support you in resolving developmental trauma and creating secure attachments with the people you care about, my style is compassionate and focused. I integrate the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). For clients who cope by engaging with problematic behaviors, I implement principles of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Florida Licenses: MH16684 and MT3671
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I’ve lived and worked in Tampa since 2003. After a career as an Occupational Therapist, I earned a master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at the University of South Florida in 2016. I had the great fortune to train as a counselor intern at both the Tampa Bay Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TBCFORCBT) and the Tampa Bay Center for Relational Psychology (TBCRP).
After the amazing mentoring I received at both practices, I opened my own practice in 2017. I continue to run DBT groups in coordination with both TBCFORCBT and TBCRP. I lead an EFT Couples Therapy Consult Group. In 2020, I became Board Certified in DBT. After desiring to learn more about Developmental Trauma, I became certified in the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM) and achieved ICEEFT - Certification in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
I supervise students of the Marriage and Family Program and the Mental Health Counseling Programs at the University of South Florida. I serve on the Advisory Board for the MHC program at the University of South Florida. I am a member of the Tampa Bay EFT group and a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).
